They both have their ups and downs, liquid eyeliner is a little harder to control than pencil eye liner. But pencil eye liner also smudges easier than liquid. So it's really just up to you:)

I like liquid because its easier to fill in that little bit of skin that can sometimes show between your lash line and where you line... Perhaps this is an over 30 thing:) but pencil looks more natural, liquid looks more stylized overall!

I prefer gel liner but it really depends what look I'm going for. If I'm going for a more casual look, I'll use pencil and if it's a night look I usualy would opt for liquid :)

I use gel/cream eyeliner for wings and such. I like pencil eyeliners for bases and underneath my lash line. I hate liquid eyeliners. They irritate my eyes, and I like using a liner brush.

I used to use only pencils because liquid is harder to apply if you are just picking it up -- your first few times can be frustrating. But once I gave it a chance and some practice I ended up prefering that everyday. It just glides on a lot nicer, and doesn't smudge/need to be set. You just have to play with one and see whether you like it better (though a pencil is best for waterline). Try one with one of those felt tips because they are easier to practice with then a brush.

Pencil for day and both at night! I use pencil in the waterline for a subtle daytime look but for nighttime I add liquid on the top along with adding more pencil on the bottom

Liquid, it looks more clean and lasts longer
