May I respectfully what "acting like a woman" is? Last I checked we were fighting to end stereotypes..?
Sep 1, 2014
Tonita C.
Brittany..respectfully, what do you mean by stereotypes? By acting like a woman, I meant just that. Women are able to respectfully and tastefully disagree without hurling insults or name-calling. I'm not sure if maybe you misunderstood what I meant, but I was simply referring to people who need to hurl insults in an effort to get a point across. What did you think I meant?

Well, re read your entire paragraph and tell me you didn't generalize what a woman should be. I was curious, finding it interesting how "____like a girl/woman" is considered negative until it works in our favour. It was just an inquiry. Very interesting.

Brittany, I totally get your point and what you're saying. However, the entire comment/convo stemmed from another thread where I was called names and my demographics/socioeconomic status were stereotyped by an individual for no reason other than being childish. What you are saying makes 100% sense, just not applicable in this situation. I don't find that most women attack others with insults or name call. Am I making any sense?

And just for clarification, amongst the names I was called, one was "old woman". And my comment, "Act like a woman" PERIOD stemmed from that.

Yes, that girl isn't the nicest. No need to be rude to her though, or snappy. Be the bigger person, but my point still stands. The stereotyping was iffy regardless of the back ground.

I really just think I was misunderstood. Maybe I should have used another word such as "adult" or "grow up". If I offended you in anyway, it was completely unintentional and I can apologize for that. I promise I didn't mean anything derogatory whatsoever!!

Hey, I'm not a feminist I just find it amusing because I was reading feminist posts earlier about how things like hitting like a girl etc.are derogatory and found it very interesting how much that changes when it's a girl saying it

I think women are easily offended these days are ready to jump on people for being "stereotypical". That's why I don't care for feminism. Like the intentions are good but the majority of feminists I come across have this "I'm better because I'm a woman and I'm going to jump on anyone who thinks differently" type attitude. I'm not sure how she said anything derogatory. I understood you perfectly Tonita and I send you a natural thumbs up lol.
