I want to try teeth whitening with baking soda but I have 2 permanent retainers behind my top and bottom teeth. would the baking soda break down the glue that holds my retainers?

I also have permanent retainers behind my teeth and I've whitened my teeth twice with this Method. Worked perfectly and my retainers are still there :)
