I prefer fix+ for a more dewy finish and UD for more matte. I also like fix+ on my brushes before application of face powders or e/s.

Mac fix+ I love it because I have dry skin and it really gives me a dewy look and sets all my makeup and makes it sink into my skin :) the all nighter def makes it last a long time but it doesn't do anything else

you can make mac fix+ by mixing a combo of glycerin and water. you have to make a new batch every month. glycerine and water are the main ingredients found in mac fix+.

If you're looking for a setting spray, go with Urban Decay because Fix+ *IS NOT A SETTING SPRAY AND WAS NEVER MADE TO BE ONE*
(In caps for emphasis, lol.)

I haven't tried the Fix + but I really lik the UD all nighter setting spray! it is expensive but so worth it and works, it takes away the cakeyness that a setting powder may leave on your skin and helps makeup stay for 10+ hours

What exactly is Mac fix intended for?

Fix+ is a refreshing spray. If your makeup looks cakey, then it'll help make it look less cakey, but... I just cannot take it seriously as "setting" spray. Not like the UD one or the Skindavia... whatever that brand is one.

I got a sample of the UD one and it was pretty nice. There's an elf setting spray that's cheap and works really good! Better than the UD one in my opinion.

Elf setting spray is nice but I feel like its more of a refresher. UD all nighter works amazing for me

I use the UD everyday to set my makeup and its AMAZING. If you've set your foundation with a powder, this works wonderfully to help get rid of Tue powdery look. its just an all around good setting spray that works without moving your makeup.

Mac Fix + is NOT a setting spray! The two main ingredients in it are Water & Glycering. When worked together are meant to hold moisture on your skin. Glycerine is a moisturizer & will NOT set your makeup.
It's just a refresher.
If you want something that will actually set your makeup, I suggest going with the UD setting spray.

I think of Fix+ as a "finishing" spray. It's not a setting spray, but it just gives me that last finishing touch when I'm done with my make up. Not sure how it does it, but something magical happens when I spray this on my face. But yeah I do agree it is not a setting spray. The only setting spray I have tried is the UD de-slick...and I honestly don't think it did anything for my make up. I was still oily by noon.
