Go to your piercer, they'll know what to do best. It would depend on the type of infection and how bad it is.

Saline solution, q tips and lots of gentle cleaning. If it's more than a week old take the bar out to clean it and put it back in and buy a titanium on they work wonders!

NO! Do NOT take it out. Go see your piercer

Agree, go see your piercer. And don't touch it at all with your hands.

I'd still suggest going to your piercer. They'll know how to take care of it best and how long you'll have to wait to take it out.
But it's definitely worth the 45 minute drive. If it goes untreated it can turn into a whole bunch of nasty things. It could be viral (which case you'd just have to clean it 4 times a day with saline/sea salt) or it could be bacterial which needs antibiotics. If it's bacterial your piercer will tell you to go to the doctor to get them. It's not something you want to skip or wait out, it can lead to other infections like inner ear or eardrum infections, and it can start to grow over in which case you'd need surgery to remove it. And If it's not already it'll get super painful. So definitely make time for it.

I've had a tragus piercing for over 2 years now, and what you have is called a keloid! Its completely normal for any cartilage piercings to get, is not an infection and is just part of the healing process, so nothing to worry about! It should be gone within 3 or 4 months (maybe less) if you soak it in a sea salt& warm/hot water mix. What I used to do is get a shot glass, mix the stuff in there, then put my head to whatever side the piercing is on and soak for at least 2 minutes, but the longer the better! I'd say 5 minutes if you can haha. Also if it ever gets crusty, be super gentle, and just get a q-tip with the same sea salt&warm water mix, then slowly just take the crusty parts off. If it doesn't come off easy don't force it! Just keep rubbing gently :) hopefully this helps!! Good luck ☺️💕

Also, I've heard pure tea tree oil can help, but personally it didnt make too much of a difference for me, so try that too if you want but definitely soak it at least once a day, the more the better though! :)

^^^ exactly what Gabby said! That bump is completely normal. Tea tree oil didn't seem to do anything for me either. Just soak it in saline and the bump will eventually go away. I have 2 piercings I got about 6 months ago and they STILL have bumps on the edges. It just does it's own thing for a while and then goes away.

I can second the comments above, give it some time and it'll al be fine. I have a tragus and after about a 6 months- a year after piercing it was healed perfectly. So no worries. ;)

I had a bad infection on my cartilage piercing. I applied antibiotic ointment twice a day and continued cleaning twice a day and it cleared up within two days. Has always worked for me. I don't have the tragus, but just my two cents!
