A root booster spray is great as well as a volume  powder.

I have a lot of hair but the actual hairs are pretty thin. I discovered the Loreal Volume Filler series a few months ago and it's great. I've used many "volumizing" shampoos over the years and this is by far the best. Another thing to try is a dry shampoo. Here is a picture of the Loreal stuff, and I believe it's packaged differently / has a different name in other countries, but this is the US version of it.

Is your hair "thin" which is the amount of hair you have or is it "fine" the diameter of each hair strand?

In terms of haircuts, see if you can get a haircut with a blunt cut and not one where the hair has been cut into vertically. A blunt end gives the illusion of thickness

That's tough one. You need the right product used the right way. Too much product just weighs the hair down. Depending on what look you are going for, I suggest a root lifter. "Big Sexy" has a good one called "Root Pump Plus" or Redken "Guts". I also like the idea of a powder. Numerous companies make them. I have used Redken and Osis. Just have to try different things till you figure it out. Good luck!!
