Chi definitely, because I have curly hair and I've used Both and the chi just seems to work better.

I recently just bought the Nu Me Megastar Flat Iron ( It is $200.00, but I used the Coupon Code 'FBDeal' so I paid about 70 dollars for it. ) It does such a beautiful job with hair that about 4-5 different ladies at work purchased one.
One of the girls has GHD and the other has a CHI and they used my Nu Me once they got their hands on it instead and they ended up buying one for themselves.
It leaves my hair silky straight with one or two passes ( I have curly ethnic hair ), and you don't have to burn your scalp trying to get the roots of your hair to straighten.
However, if you have straight hair than you could most likely get away with something more affordable like a Remington flat iron.

Please, please do not get a Chi. I was a Chi girl for 8 years, and I recently traded it in for a Croc. Now that I only use the Croc, my hair looks smoother and shinier when I straighten it, it doesn't get greasy or oily (the ceramic plates in the Chi irons actually ABSORB YOUR HAIR's OILS and re-deposit them onto your hair the next time you use it). Basically, whatever you do, avoid ceramic plates, go for titanium. a Croc flat iron is about $100. I have really thick, color treated, processed hair (though it's very healthy) and the 1" Croc gets my hair done in less than an hour. I'm going to get a thicker one soon, so hopefully it'll take less than 40 minutes =)
