Hi so I've contacted the tattooist I want to get my tattoo from and he said it will be $130 an hour. So obviously the tattoo I want will take longer then one hour so I would get the work done in hour intervals. On adverage how many sessions ( hours) do you think it will take??
This is the tat I'm getting, my upper thigh (similar size with two pink roses and a 2 word quote)

Probbably just one 1 1/2 hour session. I have a tattoo on my shoulder blade, my entire shoulder blade, and that took one hour. it was full color flowers and a 7 word phrase.

You should check a couple artist out some can be very expensive & not that great. Is this your first tattoo? I would get someone who charges for the ink they use not per hour. At least that's what my artist does :-)

I'm not. wish I was lol. have to agree with harlyn too. I'd see if someone around you does per piece work instead of hourly.

Yeh my step dads had this artist and my best best both said he was amazing and he has 36 years experience, so I personally trust him and sometimes I think it's worth the extra money to get a quality peice that's your happy with thanks though

Yeh I haven't really heard of of anyone in Australia that does work per peice / ink around my area at all, things in Australia are always more expensive so that may be why!

I'd say one or two depending on how your artist does things. :) I'm in Australia too and most places here do charge by the hour unfortunately. I've been looking for someone to do a tiny little tattoo on my finger cause I'm not going to pay 130-150$ to be there for literally 10 minutes or so haha.

Wow. that'd cost 30 here. that's the standard shop minimum.

I'd say over two hours or three hours easy. I have about a 10x4cm simple colour tattoo on my forearm and that took an hour and a half and cost me about $250.

I agree with Kimberley, I have a tatto that is a little big but no color and that took 2 1/2 hours. best of luck.

So it depends on the artists, your pain tolerance and if yall take brakes or not I say about 2hrs.

It all depends on the artist, I've got a little quote on my collarbone and it took 45 mins and a small infinity sign on my ribs which took 30 minutes with a different artist and it's not even half the size of the quote! But on average I'd say it'd take 2-3 hours. It'll look deadly though, well worth it!:)

My tattoo artist has a poster in his shop that says "good tattoos are not cheap, cheap tattoos are no good" :-) trueee!

I got one that looks about that size & it took about 1 1/2 hours. But he only charged $160 for the whole thing not for the hour. I don't believe in cheap tattoos but I also don't think it's right to charge $250+.
Then again color does cost more, I got black & white.
