When's a good time to throw out my Mascaras? How do I tell I need to throw them out? I just bought a new mascara and don't want to open it until I'm done with my old old ones.

When the bristle starts to get bad and looks clump and messy throw it out take a pic of the bristle and I will say if you need to throw away.

I throw mine out when the texture starts changing (ie: flakiness, dryness)

I'm the same as Renay, whenever the texture changes is when I throw it out.

Keep it cause it's not clumpy or the bristles aren't falling or getting tangled.

I'm with the ladies on when I can see a change in the texture..it also wears flaky as it ages. On average, I buy a new drugstore one every 3 months, but my pricier ones, every five if they are still smooth and long wearing.

Add a couple drops of olive oil or something to your mascara tube to help it last a bit longer.

What Renay said for me too. You really only want to throw out any makeup of the texture, colour, or just how well it works changes.

Normally a mascara should be thrown out every 3 months because it can get dry, change color or can have bacteria on it.

I wouldn't wait until it can't be used! Every time you use it bacteria builds in the bottle and builds. They recommend changing it out every 3 to 3 months!

Also another way to tell is that if it starts changing color/texture and/or if it starts to get a weird odor.

I have the clump crusher so when ever I notice I can see the green original wand I toss it, I have had mine for 4 months and I'm just seeing green now, its depends on the mascara and the quality but 3-4 months.
