Long time no talk ladies. I'm trying to decide what palette I will be buying next weekend. I want something with a bit of color and a bit of matte. nothing too expensive because I'm a broke high school student l.

I think you should go out and buy a z palette and get a few make up geek shadows. They are AMAZING and so pigmented. I absolutely love them. Love my Lorac palettes as well but make up geek shadows are a whole other level! :)

If you are looking for a versatile palette go for lorac pro palette or as Bronwyn said makeup geek shadows are awesome. You can also try newly launched tamanna palette from anastasia beverly hills its available at beautylish I think.

It may be too expensive but I just got the Vice 3 from Urban Decay and it's gorgeous and I would say it has a lot of matte shades for a UD palette. But there are also some really fun colors. It's $60 but their shadows are great quality and you get 20 eyeshadows and a double ended brush so if you are willing to splurge or save up for it, I think it could be well worth it.
If not, the z palette and Makeup Geek eyeshadows would be the best way to go I think. I haven't tried the shadows yet myself but I watch Marlena, the creator of the brand, on YouTube and have seen them in action there and they all look to be of great quality and she is so involved in making them. I don't think you could go wrong there. They are superrr affordable too and I've heard they rivial MAC eyeshadow. (which in my opinion really isn't hard to do because I swatched some of their shadows before and was NOT impressed at all lol. that may be harsh but that's my honest opinion)

I'm pretty pleased with my Maya Mia palette and it was $29. It's got some good, basic colors and also some fun colors. The Tamanna is very similar so I would compare them at the store. I prefer the eyeshadow quality over MAC's eyeshadows. Haven't tried MUG shadows yet but plan to!

I also love the lorac pro palette, hands down one of my favorite makeup buys of all time. If you are looking for something less expensive, I'd go with a morphe eyeshadow palette. I just purchased the pre-made palette with 35 warm colors for 20 bucks. and the quality is incredible/mac-worthy. those are my two suggestions.
