Hi beauties! So I've dyed my hair red in February and it's now May. As you can imagine my hair has faded quite a bit to this brown-red hair color and I've got almost two inches of roots. I'm in dire need of a touch up before I start work :(
I've been dying my hair with Loreal Hilights so I'm well aware of how the product works but I was wondering if you ladies know of any other good red hair dyes that I could use.

Thanks for the help! xoxo??

If you want I can look at my hair dye boxes I get from Sally's beauty supplies it's way better than the box!

Manic panic from Sallys beauty supply.

@Makenna that's fine just looking for options.
@Mikayla because It's a semi-demi permanent dye won't it fade a lot faster?

I know manic panic has bright red dye, but I'm not sure on how well it works. Your best bet is to go to Sally's beauty store if you have one near you and see what they have.

The ion red from Sallys is really good. You can even put some in your conditioner to keep the red bright and vibrant 😀

I also use L'Oreal Highlights it's the only thing that has worked for me. I naturally have black hair so this is the best option I could find without bleaching my hair. I do my roots every 3 weeks and use 30 vol and leave it for an hour. As far as refreshing the ends I would recommend Privana but your hair will need to be slightly lighter than what you have now.

Manic panic or directions dyes make good vegan dyes that come out this colour. Personally I've only used paint box in "hot chilli" and it gave me this colour but the other dyes will have a lot more shades of red to choose from.

@Dereanna thanks more than likely I'll probably end up over there lol
@Lacey thanks! I already have a red shampoo and conditioner but would I be better off just buying a regular conditioner and adding the dye because the red conditioner I have has sulfate in it and I'm sure that aids in stripping my hair of color.

@Maria thanks!
@Shaye What's paint box? is it sold in Sally's or anything

I think the loreal hilights is the best way to go in my opinion I have naturally dark hair and I got it that color with 2 bottles I used magenta in this picture but they have some more red options and I feel like its not that damaging

I've been using Manic Panic and it's been going well :)

@Omg. Grace. you're hair <3 it's sooo vibrant and that's just from manic panic alone?

You should maybe go with a darker red so it won't fade so quickly, that's what I had to do last year.

@Destiny. I'm not worried about the fading soo much as I am about obtaining the desired color if that helps. I had dark red hair just before it all faded out and it lasted 4 months before it turned weird. That's such a pretty color on you though :)

I've been using l'oreal highlights for my roots and the rest with manic panic.. wash your hair 1 or 2 times per week with cold water.. you can use dry shampoo for the days that you don't wash it.. this helps me a lot and my color last longer ;) good luck beautiful 😉

It would be near the fudge brand stuff if they have it over there :) and if not I'd definitely go with the manic panic like grace suggests :)

L'Or?al HiColor highlights for dark hair only in "red" as an all over color that's the only way I know how to achieve a hair color that bright red! I wouldnt use less than a 20 volume developer with it depending on how bright your hair is now. and a protien filler on any roots so they don't end up brighter than the rest. But good luck with whatever you chose to do!

I use splats raspberry red

May 13, 2014

Dorothea S.

Do you find that splat fades quickly?

May 13, 2014

Wade-William A.

This is a colour I did in my salon I honestly think use whatever you have used previously rinse and then apply manic panic red over it for added vibrancy that's what we do with all our red clients

No I don't find it fades too fast as long as you take care of it. The picture I posted is the colour after a month.
