Hi cuties, I'm going to be giving myself hightlights at home. should I use bleach or a box dye? And how should I do it? Foils, a cap, or just put it on sections of the hair?

Well anything other than bleach is considered a lowlight, and you said you're doing highlights, so I'm assuming you'll want to use bleach. If you are, I would use a cap only because if you don't do the foil correctly, you'll get nasty bleeds everywhere.

I had my mom do my highlights (at home) with a cap and powder bleach when I was young and loved the way they turned out! You might want to have a friend come over to help you get the back of your head though.

That's up to you how many holes you decide to pull your hair through. If you do all of them, it'll look more like almost all-over color, and not just highlights. I would maybe do every other or every others two holes. Every time you do something to your hair, it damages it. When the wind blows, it damages it. You'll be fine. Just take care of it properly, and it will survive.

Ahh..bleach weakens the hair shaft which causes breakage. It's drying..so I'd advise against doing it at home.
