I'm searching for my HG products now. I finally discovered that I want a satin finish. It's nice and in between. I have Mac strobe cream, which gives a nice glow, but it's like you have to find perfect stuff that goes together because if you get the wrong primer, it'll just cancel it out, or even if you get the right primer and foundation and then get a powder that's mattifying (which it's hard to tell), it can cancel everything out that you've done and make it look matte! So frustrating! I'm not skilled enough to figure all this stuff out >.<
anyone have some good suggestions for a loose translucent finishing powder that's not mattifying for a satin finish? Or just any suggestions in general?

I think everyone pushes the powder too hard. I'm sure it's a necessity for some people or situations, but I almost never use it aside from on my lip liner. I think Mineral Veil is a nice light powder that never feels heavy and still permits a satin finish if applied with a light hand and fluffy brush. I don't know if that's the correct manner in which one applies powder, but it does the trick nicely. ;)

Thank you both :) Well my skin is more on the dry side. Not super dry, mostly normal but closer to dry than oily. I don't use high end foundation or anything. I use L'Oreal true match. I thought that powder made your makeup stay on longer or something? I like Nyx, I'd really like to try their setting spray but was worried it would be super dewy. And Rozberry, I'm looking for something on the cheap-ish side.

It would be nice to not have to wear powder though! I don't know a lot about makeup, I just always thought it was super important. Maybe I'll try that

I'm not in any photoshoots so I think skipping powder is okay. ;)

I think skipping powder is fine, but if you want a powder for dry skin, and not so matte, you should look for a mineralized powder, they are the best for really dry skin, the one I use is by ruby kisses.
