Why does it actually matter wether an eyeshadow is matte or sheeny?
What will a matte do that a sheen won't?
What one is best to blend?

Matte isn't shiny or has sparkles

A matte shadow is obviously matte which has no shimmer or any of that and the other type is the opposite of a matte shadow

I know what matte and sheen means!! I don't know why some people prefer to use mattes? Or prefer sheens? Is one easier to work with??

I'm not the most qualified person to talk about this, but here's what I've found.
It's good to have a mixed collection of matte and shimmery eyeshadows.

Shimmery shadows look great in the inner corners to highlight, whereas a matte shadow in the same colour would not have the same effect. It's also nice for a night out and special occasions because it looks more dramatic than matte eyeshadows, which tend to blend into the skin more because of their 'flat' appearance.

Matte eyeshadows are great for everyday wear, doing smokey eyes, or very dark and dramatic looks in general, and also for hooded eyes, where you want to create shadows rather than highlight.

It's the same principles as contouring your face. You want matte colours to create shadows, and shimmery colours to highlight.

Mattes are better for co contouring. Medium to dark mattes make areas recede. Good for contouring hooded, puffy or Asian or downturned eyes. Shimmers highlight & bring areas forward. Good for inner corners, center of eyeball & browbone (although I prefer a matte for the browbone. These are just some examples.
