Please help me! Memorial Day weekend I went to the beach and my hands got really sun burnt! I put on lotion but forgot to put it on the backs of my hands I think and my hands are very dry to begin with so they burned very easily, I realized while I was at the beach they were starting to burn so I was putting on spf 50 continuously and I never want in the water so my sunscreen never came off. I tried aloe vera gel, aloe vera lotion and they are slowly getting better but I'm still really nervous if is something I should go to the doctor for or if it just takes time.

If they were really dry before, then maybe at this point it's just dry skin. My hands look like that when they are extremely dry. Try using a really thick hand cream.

This sounds weird, but crush up slices of peeled cucumber and put it on your hands, or put it in a bowl and hold your hands in it. Or you could even fill a plastic glove with it, but that might hurt a bit.
I got a reaally bad sunburn on my back a few summers ago (I was wearing the same bikini for almost three weeks, I couldn't put a real shirt on it was so bad. My mom looked up a bunch ways to soothe it, since I would pretty much cry every time I sat down and I was sleeping on my stomach on the cold kitchen floor lol. After 3-4 days of using the cucumber "paste" it stopped hurting, it wasn't as red and it healed very quick. I didn't go to the doctor, because there wasn't anything he could have done, but if you're really nervous then maybe call your doctor and see if you should come in

I would get some Aloe Vera on them. Use it direct from the plant to soothe the burn and to help with healing or find a hand or body lotion with Aloe Vera in it. Vasaline do an amazing body one in a green tube and that helped me with some slight sun burn on my shoulders. Hope this helps. xx

I've heard wetting tea bags and placing them on burned parts of your body helps.

All valuable advice!
My dermatologist once gave me a thermal water spray (av?ne) when I got burnt. It really helps to soothe the area...it's a miracle!! lol. Jokes aside, make sure you use only unscented products, as perfumed ones can further irritate the area. Oatmeal can help, aloe vera directly from the plant is great (even for actual burns).

*Actual burns meaning getting scalded from boiling water or oil. It really works wonders, keep using it! Hope your hands get better soon!

Ohh my!! You poor thing! That looks painful as hell!! I burn so so easy and I find that the only thing that kind of helps is aloe vera gel, its cooling and soothing! For some instant relief I have heard that soaking the burnt bodypart in full fat milk can help a bit!
Really hope it will help you or you find something else that will!

YOWCH. That looks like a second or third degree burn. I would see a doctor or at least ask a pharmacist what they recommend. Definitely use aloe and keep it moisturized, but avoid cold water because it will shock the burn and can lead to blisters or hardening (like a callus). I had a bad burn like that a few months ago, and ended up filling nonlatex gloves with aloe and wearing them because it hurt too much to touch anything.

Thank you so much ladies! It was so bad the day it happened I had to buy a milk shake and put my hands in it to cool it down! And I slept with wet gloves that same night because I couldn't sleep with out them! My dermatologist and doctors are either closed or book but I'm still going to call to see if I can get in either tomorrow or Friday! I have work until 8 tonight and my pharmacy is open until 10 so I will ask them and see if they can help me! Emily now that you mention it I have been using cold water thinking it has helped but it actually have me blisters and I didn't realize that until you said something because I was wondering why I was getting blisters as well!

Literally just saw this in Facebook. It'll immediately soothe the pain and make the burn look like a tan
You'll Need:
a Large Bowl
Earl Grey Tea Bags
Place 5-7 early grey tea bags in your coffee pot filter holder and then run a pot of water through your coffeepot. Once it's done brewing, transfer the tea into a large bowl and add the teabags that you used to brew the pot of tea.
Let it cool to room temperature. Soak a clean towel in the bowl of room temperature Early Grey tea. Wring it out gently and apply it to directly to the burned area for a minimum of 30 minutes. Do not use sprays, aloe or any other "treatment". This tea MUST be applied within 6-8 hours of the initial burn to be most effective. It will immediately relieve pain. By the next morning, it will look tan

Thank you ladies! I actually went to the doctors the other day an she said it was second degree burns! I work at physical therapy office where we deal with hot packs so I think being exposed to that made them worse! The doctor prescribed me silvadene and they are getting so much better!
