I use Real Techiques contour brush with Maybelline's light bronze bronzer but it just looks like slight orange smeared on my cheek and it doesn't contour anything!
Do I need to go darker? Or do I actually need to buy a contour kit?

Bronzer isn't for contouring, you will need a contour kit or darker foundation

Bronzer is too warm for contouring, you will want to use actual contouring powder, which has cooler undertones so it won't make you orange.

If you get a foundation 1-2 shades darker than your foundation you can use that to contour...same goes for highlighting, if you get a foundation 1-2 shades lighter than your foundation you can use that to highlight, this works the best for me. the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate palette is amazing but its very expensive so the foundation trick is cheaper and works really well :) :)

That's because bronzer isn't for contouring. try a foundation 1-2 shades darker than your skin that's cool toned.
