So originally I was going to attend Cosmix School in Florida, but I thought about it and if I was to go there I would have to leave my job and move to Florida for fours months and I really don't want to do that right now.
I've decided to go to Aveda starting in either the summer or next fall. I plan on doing the Esthiology *spell check lol* program but now I'm considering the Cosmetology program. I wouldn't mind learning how to do hair because a makeup artist that can do hair is like a double threat to me. I already know that nether field goes too deep into makeup but the things I would be learning will be beneficial for me in my career as a makeup artist. So my question for you guys is which program should I do?

As a licensed Cosmo for almost 10 years, and a Cosmo Instructor now, I would for sure choose Cosmetology. It opens so many doors of opportunity. Even if you love makeup, like I do, you have many other talents and choices to choose from. Like I said, I got licensed in cosmetology, I went from being in a salon doing hair and makeup, from working from MAC Cosmetics, to now Instructing. Just don't limit yourself by being so specialized I guess is what I'm saying. :)

Go to cosmetology school. I agree with Lyndsey H. As a new cosmetologist, you have more opportunities and learn more things. Good luck! :)

I went to cosmetology school and I loved it. Yes the main subject you learn in hair but there are many other things you learn such as skin care, nails, some basic aspects of makeup. I take my test in two weeks and if you do decide to go to cosmetology school the best advice I can give you before you go is take your certification test as soon as you get your hours. Don't be dumb like me and wait, worst mistake ever. Also there's a makeup pro in almost every cosmetology class I had three in mine you can feed off of them and more than likely they will help you and teach you new things since you are all there to better yourself. And I don't know if it was just the school I went to but you could also put in extra hours to get certified in other areas such as nail technician, braiding and so on I'm not that informed in that area but its worth looking into.
