I went out surfing for about 2 hours and came back in (it was really ruff) and I now have giant painful bruises on my hipbones. I'm not sure if this is normal but I know that it's hard for me to walk around and sleep (I sleep on my side). I planned to go surfing on Thursday or Friday but am not sure if it's a good idea. Any ways to protect the bruises if I go surfing again or ways to heal the bruises would be great. Thanks so much.

Lots of ice! I would probably skip on the surfing so the bruises can heal. If it's that hard to walk, then you want to minimize risk of further injury as much as you can.

I agree with shiro! Lots of ice! When I use to surf the same exact thing happened to me and it was so painful, try minimizing the amount of time you lay on your board and sit up on the board instead to wait for the waves. Also massaging the bruises will help them go away quicker!

Arnica gel works great. My daughter plays a few sports and this stuff works great for her.
