Paint both colors on a chunk if sponge, use it to dab polish, smooth and blend with top coat.

I also heard a way to do it is paint the color closest to the cuticle (back) and the color that's in the front. And then paint the middle color over those I'm not exactly sure how we'll that works. But it's just another method. It probably create more clear lines like a double dip kinda thing but just letting you get more ideas :)

I always thought gradient was a transition of different colors and ombre was a transition of the same color to dark-light.

Well I actually just looked it up and it said that gradient is in fact a transition of colors such as the pic Vallerie posted and ombre is a transition to dark-light like the pic Chanel posted. Thanks Wikipedia!!

I never really cared either way. Gradient, ombre BLENDED COLORS whateverrrrr lol. Either way, you use the same method to get either looks.
