So I've just bleached my hair and I'm about to go swimming. Is it safe to get my hair wet? I've heard the chlorine can turn my hair green but I'm not sure. Any way to prevent this??

I know swim caps are ugly but hey. Better safe then sorry? Ahaha

Good idea Renay, and yeah Leslie very true :) I'll probably just have to be very careful and try not to get my hair wet.

My hair was close to platinum and I went swimming with it and yes, I came out with a green tint. please be careful. It was terrible.

Chlorine is my hair's worst enemy. I went swimming with my sister once and her light brown hair turned green, and my blonde hair turned NEON orange. It was horrible!

Yeah it can turn your hair an off green or tint green because of the chloride chemical mixing with the bleach. If anything just keep it up and stay in the shallow side and let your friends know not to splash you.

Wearing a swim cap won't help. I'm on swim team and its meant to prevent drag in races not to keep your hair safe.

Just make sure to rinse your hair out as soon as you get out and make sure to wash out that night but you should be fine.

I probably wouldn't be game enough, since I've gone blonde I'm avoiding swimming in chlorine at all hahaha.

It turns green because the hair is a yellow color and the water is blue. Yellow+blue=green. You can mix a little but of red kool aid with your shampoo to neutralize the green or you can use a clarifying shampoo and even mix baking soda with your regular shampoo

You could have your hair pre soaked with regular water before swimming and that would probably lessen how much chlorine your hair soaks up.
