My friend asked me for makeup advise today, but the thing is she has dry skin and I only know stuff about oily skin. She is going to buy herself a new foundation and wants me to recommend something but I don't really know any so
BASICALLY: good foundations for dry skin?

NARS SHEER GLOW! It's the best foundation I have ever used

I agree with Janae. Armani luminous silk is also great and doesn't emphasize dry areas. Loreal true match lumi is a good one too.

Clinique Even Better or Makeup Forever HD! I have also heard Tarte is good but I personally haven't tried it. Nars Sheer Glow sadly broke my skin out but I liked it. No matter what you choose though, use a primer. Also I don't recommend just buying what people recommend, go check out reviews on Sephora and Makeupalley too for second opinions, and definitely get samples of a few of the ones you are thinking about buying. I'm just saying that because I don't know anyone who wants to waste their money on something that doesn't work for you. I have tried just about every drugstore foundation and high end foundation they have a Clinique was the best option for me and their products are more affordable as far as high end goes. I have also had good luck with mineral foundations too (Merle Norman, Bare Minerals; and Tarte has one too).

Shoot I forgot to mention the Laura Mercier like Jaxxmyn said, is also supposed to be good for dry skin. And one thing that really helped me was switching to CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and the Moisturizing Lotion; I noticed a huge difference in it helping my desert dry skin.

Nars sheer glow. Also I've been trying out the new bare minerals serum foundation. It has a really natural look with good coverage. Sometimes it feels too oily for what I'm used to even with my dry skin, but it doesn't look oily or move around my face.

I might add that I'm really loving the Studio Sculpt. It's like a gel-mousse and I apply with a damp beauty blender. It looks very natural.
