Help!! I'm a softball player, and being out in the sun all weekend, I have a large farmers tan. any tips to lighten and prevent it?

I have a farmers too! but it isn't like yours though. it's on my foot and one part of my foot is really white and the other side is very tan. I don't know how to get rid of it.
