I think they're very similar in both pigment and blend ability personally. mac has more choices I feel. but I think for the colors that you find in mac and a dupe for in make up geek, you can go with make up geek to save the money. I have some of both and they're both lovely and very comparable.

Makeup geek eyeshadows are really great, they are super comparable in pigmentation, blendability and there are a number of makeup geek dupes for mac shadows. I would highly recommend getting some of both, but if you're looking to build a starter palette makeup geek is a lot cheaper and is a good place to start.
