I would definitely get a new hairdresser. That's why I cut my own hair lol I have the same problem. Usually just asking your hairdresser to decrease some bulk and putting layers would help with frizzy poofiness. Keratin treatments might help.

No I don't think you should try to make your hair less thick, there are so many women in the world that would love to have thick hair, but the decision is up to you I guess..

That hairdresser was probably either jealous or she didn't know how to cut hair, get a new hairdresser for sure.

Get a new hairdresser, and a way to make it lighter is to ask the person to use thinning shears. I have very thick hair that causes bad headaches if my hair is too long, so I feel your pain. maybe someone else at that salon can help you. complain to the mgr a out that last lady,

My hair is also very thick and curly, I have been doing reaearch there is just so many outlets to take on our hairtypes, but In my research a leave am conditioner is top of the list with helping it less frizzy and helps with damage. Good luck!

When I used to straighten everyday I had a lot of layers don that started around my chin. my hair was very thick and naturally curly. I also had my hair cut straight on the bottom (looks healthier). I alwayd had a really good hairdresser that knew how to deal with my hair. I suggest you find someone who knows how to deal with it. tell her exactly what you wsnt bring pics and even tell her how you style your hair, the more info you give the better. it might feel weird though lol. good luck!

I have my hairdresser thin it out, but only in the middle, not on the top layers of hair. That way the top layers cover the "split end" look. I have that same problem - I love the feeling but hate the look! Now that I only get the middle thinned, I have the best of both worlds.

I have the same problem janelle... When I grew my hair out I had a schedule, I would only straighten it 2-3 times a week (which is tough because it was always gross and curly) but it worked great for me and I would keep the thick hair... Although it is annoying and a hassle I am always glad I have so much hair in the end

I have my hair cut for when I straighten it, and it's in layers. Layers definitely will help with weight. STAY AWAY FROM THINNING SHEARS. They are the devil for girls like us, who have thick, frizzy and curly hair. They cause a lot of damage to the ends and can make them look really frizzy. Layers are your friend. And I'd suggest a new hair stylist. Embrace your curls :)
