Hi beauties :) I've been taking horseback riding lessons for the last 6 months and now that the weather is warming up I'd like to switch up my riding attire lol. It's informal so anything goes however jeans seem like the only practical option on the lower half (for comforts sake) anyway. Has anyone had experience with this? What do you wear riding? I also really want to find a cute hat for the sun/trail rides but can't think of one that would be appropriate for when I leave the stables :p lmk if you fashionistas have any ideas! ❤️

Also-shoes! Running/tennis shoes don't work in the stirrups and obviously flats/sandals aren't exactly safe to wear around huge animals, should I invest in boots?? The problem is I'd rather not come out of this looking like a straight cowgirl haha..

I used to ride back in highschool and I wore a somewhat fancy top with my riding pants for once. Once because after 4 hours of riding that shirt was absolutely nasty from dirt that was kicked up from the trail and ring. I suggest some colorful tank tops from Forever21 and wearing a cute hair accessory like a jeweled headband. Since you mentioned a hat...how about a fedora? Just don't spend a lot of money and stay cheap just in case you stain your top or lose something on the trail.

Boots...that was a non-neg for me...riding boots all the way.

Thank you Shelley!! I didn't think about a fedora.. I've been wearing a pair of boots from target I think I'll take your advice and start the search for cute ones made specifically for this..

English riding boots are adorable. Also, polos are super cute for riding, and leggings kind of rock, too.

Jeans, definitely invest in some boots (I prefer Ariat Tombstones), and I love my cadet caps. Any top will work. I usually ride in a unisex shirt...nothing too fitted. I like my shirts kind of baggy when I'm working my horses. I usually wear my old track/field shirts and stuff.

Check out Boot Barn, Cavenders, Valley Vet and Sheplers for more boots. Justin's, Boulet's and Lucchese boots are good brands as well.
