Bleaching your hair (going lighter) is more damaging than using a darker colour. If you're wanting to go blonde, it might take a little while. Dramatic colour change takes time. But I've had my hair almost every colour under the sun. If you look after it, your hair doesn't have to be damaged. I think caramel or honey tones would look really nice.

If I were you, I'd dye your hair with Garnier Olia, as it's oils so it's less damaging:) just follow the instructions on the box and you'll be fine:) I'm dying my hair a reddish-brown colour later in the year, I think you'd suit a similar sort of colour.
Your hair won't go the colour it is on the box, there's images on the back which show what colour your hair will go. You might want to try two of the same box dyes, so you get a more accurate colour

Your hair looks healthy, so you'd be good to dye it. If you do dye it, make sure your hair is a few days old, so the oil in your hair protects it.

@hannah I don't think garnier olia range is available in india! I was thinking if loreal would be good for it claims of having no ammonia..I am eyeing the new chocolate factory collection launched in india :)

Okay, you can probably get similar, any oil based hair dye:) if you have Garnier Fructis, that's good too:) they sound good, if they have good reviews I'd give them a try:)

Have you thought of a soft ombre? not the one from boxes were you can see a line (thats a nono) get it done^.^ it draws attention to your hair so it looks longer and helthier:) its less damaging depending on what color youll lift to:) I've had my hair literally every color in the rainbow:p and I liked obreing my hair:3.

Is your hair color virgin? If so you can lighten your hair by 4 levels using a 40 volume with the hair dye. But if you have color on your hair already you would have to bleach that color out since color doesn't lift color.
