How to get big curls with volume.

So I have a 1 1/2 inch curling iron and I want to know how to have curls that stay all day with a lot of volume?? My hair doesn't hold curls very well either.

When I want voluminous and bouncy curls to stay, I use pins! So you curl the section of hair then while its still hot, coil it up in the shape that the curling iron made it and pin it loosely (I use bobby pins) up to your head and do that for every curl. then hairspray it lightly and wait for the curls to cool down before taking out the pins. it makes your hair super bouncy and voluminous and it holds curls way better!!
