Which one are you using?
apply it to the back of your hand. If it's thick so your body heat can make it easier to blend
-cooking is just placing it on your face, not really blending it out yet. Allowing 10-20 mins to sit without powdering, which allows it to soak into the skin, oxidize and all that good stuff, then blending it out for a smooth finish. It's an old drag queen trick.
-apply a good primer first

What I find is the best to cover blemishes is to dab on the product with a small concealer brush, and then blend out the edges, I just use a stippling brush :)
