I would think a pair of slacks (not jeans) or knee length skirt and a nice button down/dressy shirt would be fine! Also, keep the makeup neutral, and hair pinned back. Congrats on the job!

Harlyn- I think that dress is adorable, but not something that I would consider business casual. Its too playful, with the polkadots, and most likely too short.

My moms work is business casual, and she wears skirts that hit the knee or lower with slightly "fancy" but basic shirts. It's really a keep it basic, if you go for pattern, do floral shirt or skirt as an accent and keep everything else neutral. I've never seen anybody at her work wear a dress, but if you do it'd almost have to be a solid color to avoid looking to casual.
My moms favorite work outfit is a floral slightly below the knee silk skirt, with a black scoop neck shirt with ruffles on the chest. It's girly, but work appropriate. She also wears a lot of solid color shirts that are casual with a pair of dress pants. Button downs are something you can never go wrong with either. The employees shouldn't say something to your boss based on your wardrobe anyways, they might say "hey she can wear casual stuff can we?" And then you might get talked to saying to business up your clothes a little. But you won't get fired or anything like that.
