Some stylists will use lubriderm for frizz control. However, heavily moisturizing body lotions sold at bath and body works will only make it greasy and way down the hair. Also if the lotion contains alcohol it will dry the hair!

I've done that for the same exact reason. I didn't use B&BW lotion but I did use some random lotion and my hair did just fine for that one day. I used it after I had shampooed my hair and then I placed it in a braid. Once I arrived at my destination I let it loose. No issues. But its something I suggest doing often.

You can try adding some of your conditioner instead. When you wash it out later it will be knot free!
