Yes you'll need to bleach your hair first? what's your natural hair color?

Lift the color, don't bleach. Try Vitamin C treatments (you can google them) or color oops. That's a better option than bleach; use bleach as a last resort.

You don't need to bleach it unless you want it to be as red as in the picture you can tint it red though

I'm going to Cosmo school right now& from what I've learned you'll have to take all the darkness out, if anything try mixing bleach with 10/20 volume developer and apply that and once you start to see it lighten to an even shade then rinse it out (it just depends on how dark your hair is) then apply the color. if anything go to a Sally's and ask for their opinion they'll help you out.

If I bleach my hair and it doesn't come out light blonde then will the purple shampoo (don't remember the name) turn it lighter?
Jan 28, 2014
Jessica M.
The purple shampoos to help keep your blonde a more pale and to pull the brassy under tones out. you can bleach your hair until the blacks out( you don't have to wait until its a pale blonde) bc the lighter your hair gets the more that reds going to absorb into your hair and it'll turn out brighter.

You don't need to go to blonde just go to a medium brown. you can either do bleach with 20 volume leave it for about 45 min then take it off. don't apply to your roots until last if your roots are dark I'd do it 25 min into the 45 if your roots are already a medium brown I wouldn't put bleach on it at all. deep condition after you wash out the bleach then do the red. it should work fine like that. But as complicated as getting black out is you may want to go to a professional.

Go to a salon and have color removed by a professional-it will save you time and money in the long run. Trust me it's worth the money!
