I know using bronzers for contouring is a no-no usually but I was looking at Laguna and it actually looks very cool toned to me.. Do you think it would be a product to possibly use to contour or is it just me?

I was told as long as it isn't too warm looking, or golden/orange, and no sparkles it should be good for contouring.

It's not cool toned (I've swatched it, because it's hard to tell from online pictures), but I'd recommend the Nyx Contour Powder instead. If you're looking for a high end contour kit, try the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Kit. Jacqueline swears by it, and I'm inclined to agree with her recommendations.

A good contouring bronzer is matte, and compliments your skin tone. During the summer though, I love to contour with a bronzer that has a little shimmer, just to show my tan. But since you looked fair skinned, choose a light milk chocolate matte bronzer :)

A dupe for the nars Laguna would be the NYC Sunny bronzer

You can still put it in contouring areas. I use Benefit Hoola to contour and it looks really good. You don't need a sculpting kit or anything just some sort of not orangey reddish bronzer.

^there is literally NO "good contouring bronzer." Seriously. That's because they're supposed to give warmth to the face and therefore don't have cool tones. If you use them to contour, you'll notice that you have to apply a lot, because they're usually more sheer than a contour powder, and can make your face look muddy and orange. The reason you want to avoid them is because shadows are grey toned. No such thing as a warm brown shadow, and shadows are what you're trying to create with contouring.

Hannah is very right, bronzers aren't meant for contouring and there's no such thing as a cool toned Bronzer because it defeats the purpose if a Bronzer. A Bronzer is supposed to add warmth and light to your face, contouring is to add depth and for lack of a better word darkness to your face in order to sculpt it. Using one for the other completely defeats its purpose. Although they may seem similar, and may seem ok to use them for differnt things, it looks very odd. And once you try the correct thing for corrct reason, you'll see why.
For contouring, using a palette specifically for to or use a darker foundation in that area then go over your entire face with your normal foundation. This will add depth

Depending on the return policy, try Shadowy and see if that works, and return it if it doesn't.

I guess I'm one of two people in the universe who don't like Laguna though I love NARS. It's warm, and slightly shimmery, so wouldn't be my contour choice. I use Sculpt by MAC and love it, but I've though about adding Shadowy for times where I want a super dramatic contour. I haven't actually tried it though, I'm NW20 for reference- good luck and let us know which one you choose:)

I know exactly what you mean Erica! I'm probably going to be like hunted down for this but I don't like hoola bronzer. I live everything from benefit, just not this. It's just nothing special, yea know? Plus I feel like a lot of the youtubers who are "beauty gurus" don't really know what they're are doing. Not everyone just some people. Like they use hoola for contour and it just looks like a muddy mess.

There's nothing wrong with that, but usually for contour you want to use a cool tones color, not something that is going to warm up "shadows" although I have hears good things about Laguna and contouring

@erica OMG lol. I love lipsticks and would buy those any day rather than a bronzer.
