You should try using a lighter color in the middle and in the outer part? nice black and try using tape so that there isn't any fall out :)

Really good for your first attempt! better than mine, lol.
I do agree with most of Miriam's advice. definitely work on cleaning it up & blending it our a bit more. however I don't think you should use a lighter black. smokey eyes are all about drama, so dark is perfect! I would add a little more shadow to the lower lash line, as well as some black liner.

Hi Annie,you pretty much got it down! dark fade to light and looks like you did it.There is No Light color in the middle of a smokey eye and there is No outer V and there is No light black that would be called dark Grey.Smokey eye is a dramatic style it's edgy.
