I've never worn face primer before with my foundation and was wondering if it was necessary for all types of foundation such as liquid, mineral and air brushed. Also what exactly does a primer do?

It's a choice, but it makes your foundation look better, if it's a good one. It should create a smoother texture to help the foundation work.

It's creates the prefect canvas for foundation.

Its a lot like putting gesso on a freshly stretched canvas: it fills in the gaps and pores and smooths everything out so your foundation looks nicer and applies easier.

Not really, that's why we have moisturizer.

Bb cream would probably be best since it's everything all in one. I'm going to try some myself. I've never tried face primer but I have eye primer. It's lighter and makes shadow pop a little more and stay on better. But I'd seriously suggest bb cream over face primer myself (cheaper on the wallet and not a bunch of makeup on your face).

So I like this question! It's a choice BUT I'd personally say yes because not only does it hold onto your makeup longer BUT it also is a sort of barrier between your skin and makeup. I highly recommend it but it's a personal choice. Try it and see :)

It really depends what you need it for. It you have larger pores or oily skin I would suggest a good primer that will keep you make up on longer and creat a smooth base.

I did fine with using just moisturizer until my 30s... & after that it became a daily necessity.
