I'm new to the idea of heat protectant and while I was really happy to learn about it so I could play more often, I'm feeling pretty bummed out by it now. Before I could use Lottabody or flax seed gel and get 2 or 4 days respectively out of a heat set and never have to use any other product. Now that I've started using heat protectant (can't remember which, but it's got just 3 'cones and fragrance as ingredients) my set lasts for maybe an hour if I'm lucky. I have never been the person with the hair that couldn't hold a curl and this is a bummer. Am I really going to have to start using hair sprays and mouse? I'm not sure the heat protectant is worth that :( input?

If your having a problem with your heat protectant try using tresemmeè thermal creations (use the heat tamer leave in spray) that's what I use to hold my curls when I want a natural look. And they last all day! (And my hair will only hold a curl for 3 hrs on its own at most)

That was the heat protectant I tried first but after feeling like it was doing damage I looked and the ingredients and read up on the make up of HPs and it doesn't seem to actually be one based on my reading :/ too much water, not enough 'cone.

The Redken Smooth Down Serum works great as a duo heat protect/anti-frizz product! I'm not sure if it has the ingredient you are trying to avoid or not, but it does a nice job of being a protectant while also making sure your hair stays nice and soft and as frizz-less as possible and I have really curly/thick/unruly hair! Maybe give it ago and see because I really love it!
The CHI 44 Iron Guard is also another great regular heat protectant, as well as the Suave Professional one! Maybe give those a shot too and see if you find one that works for you! I hope this is helpful! (:

if your heat protectant is causing your set to fall out it's to heavy of a product. at the end of the day a heat protectant shouldn't interfere with ur other products, I would recommend a spray with no hold factor then use your normal styling products as before. a good one is Goldwell Style Perfection, I use it at work with my blow waves and mine clients get a good week out of my blow waves
