You will have to bleach it! I think itd look good I love her hair color. MY only recommendation is to not use Splat hair coloring.. it sucks.

I think you need to bleach it first and the dye. I doubt that this can be done at home if you aren,t a pro...

Got it, no splat, bleach it, do it at a hair salon.

Erin, yes, but I think you need to google bleaching your hair type if you wanna do it at home, because I feel that it will be very hard since your hairs seem to be very thick and porous. As I know for porous hair is used bleach with a low % of peroxyde but it is holded more until the desired result:-)

You are in for a world of headache! Soooo to get pastel hair, it is so much to do. First off, you can not avoid bleach. You will have to bleach your hair repeatedly and tone it until it is platinum blonde. Bleach it, tone, follow with purple shampoo. It's not a one shot deal. It's a process. Pastel hair color does not take to honey or dark blonde, you will have to get it platinum. Period. Then from there you mix your lavender hair color with conditioner to lighten it. From what I understand, ion color brilliance is a great dye and long lasting for unnatural colors. Then after you process, you must must must neutralize it or your hair will be even more damaged. Good luck and DO YOUR RESEARCH.

Hahaha, this sounds horrible! But totally worth it! My hair is the product of a black father and a white mother, kind of thick, corse but very well taken care of. Never use heat styling, very healthy and curly will any of this make a different? The last time I dyed it was about six or seven years ago.

Because of your natural, it will be a BIG process to go blonde, and Symone is absolutely correct, platinum is the only way.
And the pastel colors are hard to keep in, but like you said totally worth it!! I have used pravana pastel color, lasted pretty well, still not as long as the regular purple. I would HIGHLY recommend going to a professional.

As far as up keep goes. Was your hair as little as possible (I washed mine once a week, dry shampoo is a good friend of mine.) and when I DID wash my hair... Ice cold water. Keeps your color in longer.

If you can get your hands on it, or find a salon that uses it, try to go with pravana. Their vivids line is amazing, and they did come out with a pastel line last year I believe. Cant recommend it enough, the staying power is insane tho so be sure you really want it if you go with pravana. You should totally go for the hair it would look very cute on you.

Before bleaching it (the night before ) slather coconut oil in your hair and leave it over nit (put a shower cap over) the next morning bleach with the coconut oil still in the hair (it will not effect the color, thanks will help to do less damage to your hair). Also never bleach with one day hair. 4day unwashed hair is better to bleach bc itll do less damage.

I would defiantly go and see a colour specialist to get that done to make sure it goes just the way you want it with minimal damage, maintenance may be a pain though because your roots will come through quite dark, maybe do the bottom half or middle section of your hair it looks good and it's really low maintenance as when your hair is down you can't see the roots :) x

Your hair my not last the lightening process. some peoples hair can only manage to get to the orangey tone before itstarts to snap off even if in good condition! I would suggest a deep purple as pastels are hard to get to and very hard to maintain, if you are adamant I would suggest doing a strand test, basically get some one to cut a very small handfull of hair at the back of your head and attempt to lighten it so you can see what you may get :)

Honestly I think that's a hard color to pull off. It really clashes with skin tones. Maybe try something else.

Okay! I went from years of black hair to lavender in about 2 weeks the first time I went blonde. If suggest buying a tub of bleach powder and a small bottle of 20% peroxide and 30% peroxide. Bleach your hair with the 30vol first as you'll need a higher lift cause your hairs black, depending on what colour it is after that you might have to bleach it again, I'd use the 20vol if you need to do that and only on the orange/reddish tones if they haven't lightened to a light yellow. If you didn't wana use bleach the second time around I used shwartzkopft L+ dyes in the shade that lightens the most and that works just as we'll with half the damage of bleaching :) from there you'll be able to dye your hair pastel with a purple dye and conditioner :)

I think you should just find the color of purple you want and not use bleach and you will get a really cool outcome and it won't be an over the top purple like the Katy perry hair that Lisa posted
