How do you know when it's time to throw out some of your make up? I've had some make up for years & hardly used it. Is there a guideline to about how long different make up is good for?

Honestly I agree with Chanel. You just have to see if it's dried out or if it's liquid check the consistency of the product!

On the bottom of most makeup there's a little symbol that looks like a jar with it's lid popped off and under that somewhere it will say like 12M meaning that product is good for a year/12 months. I think powders generally keep longer so I wouldn't be concerned with them unless you're having a reaction to them or they aren't working well anymore. For things that are liquid I'd be more cautious because liquids generally break down faster I think. Things like mascara and lipgloss will also have bacteria build up more than likely as well, unless you make a point to sanitize them with a spray or wipe made for sanitizing (like beauty so clean.) I don't think they're very strict guidelines though, as long as it doesn't look, smell or feel funny when you put them on I think you should be okay. I would throw out stuff like mascara and lipgloss if it's quite a while past the expiration.

No problem! Only make up that if it's old I tend to throw out is mascara because it tends to be of poor quality and dries out badly.

Also the expiry date has to do with accumulated bacteria, so if youve barely ever used them they couldnt have gone bad.

She does a whole video on when to throw out make-up BUT you can check yourself on the bottom of each make-up it'll have a little tub with ''24'' or ''12'' written on it, which means the months you can use it until it goes bad, just try to remember when you bought it ;)

Mascara supposedly isn't good after 2 months because it grows bacteria so quick! I'm not sure though:)
