I've always been using powders, but I read that you should rather use cream bronzer&highlighter to get a more natural finish.. What do you use and why?

I have both. Powder is much quicker to apply (for me anyway) so I generally only use the cream when I'm going out somewhere at night. I find both look fairly similar but the cream highlight definitely shows up more than my powder :)

Well first of all, if you're using bronzer it's not going to look right no matter what. Bronzer simply isn't the right product. If you want to use cream products for contour, I suggest a cream foundation, or a concealer 2 or so shades darker than your skintone. Look for cooler, grey toned browns.

I agree with Hannah, if you're using a bronzer, no matter how much you blend, you will look patchy.
right now I use a pressed powder that's about 2 shades darker than my skin, & the Revlon Finishing Powder as my highlighter (it's super white & shimmery, so it works >.<). if you want to use creams/liquids, I suggest just picking up a foundation or concealer that's 1-2 shades lighter & darker than your skin tone & using those.

I use both. Concealer darker to contour & one lighter to highlight. I set them with powder then go over my highlighted areas with a shimmer.

I always used powders to contour. (MAC Sculpt powder to contour, and all different things to highlight.) I thought I had gotten pretty good at it.
More recently I switched to what is advertised as a liquid foundation (but it is a very thick one, so I consider it cream) to highlight and contour. The results look so much better.
-First I conceal. I use Hard Candy Glamoflauge. It's a heavy duty concealer that can also cover tattoos. I put this in two "triangles" under my eyes.
-I use the darker foundation to mark my face up like a pre plastic surgery patient. Two stripes below my cheekbones, down the sides and tip of my nose, etc.
-I blend everything in with a Beauty Blender.
-I set my concealer with Ben Nye Banana Powder.
-If needed, I go over my contour with a really light dusting of MAC Sculpt.
-I highlight the tops of my cheekbones with a highlighting powder (More recently MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Superb)
Voila!

I use powder highlights with the exception of benefit watts ul, which is gorgeous by the way, but for bronzer I use loreal true match concealer that is a few shades darker than my skin for a natural and flawless look, its also great if you have dry skin.
