Dampen it with water, you can dot the foundation on your face and blend it out.
IYou can put some on the beauty blender too if you'd like. It's all a matter of playing with it. ☺

Some people put foundation on the sponge then blend it, and others put foundation on the face and then come with the sponge to blend it in. I prefer the second way :)

Put the foundation you plan to use on the back of your hand, dampen the sponge , the blot in in full coverage on your face. You can also use it to apply matte or liquid blushes
