Black will take a ton of bleach to come out. Color strippers don't really take it out at all, I tried color oops twice, and color fix by ion and it barely faded it. It just damaged my hair. I'd go to a hair dresser and get them to remove the color so you don't damage your hair too much.
Or if your going red, try loreal hi lights for dark hair. It's how I got rid of my black hair.

I tired that before on black the red didn't show in some spots. I'm looking into salons to see who's cheaper. then then just do the red at home.

You could always go to a beauty school and get your hair done for cheap! They're supervised by licensed cosmotologist and with a corrective color like going from black to red you'll likely get a student that will graduate soon!

I used the color stripper by revlon and it got all the black out the first time. Anyone who says color strippers don't work is wrong.

Color strippers don't work.. for everyone anyways. I does my hair blue black for 7 years and no amount of color remover was going to take it out. Box hair dye has metallic salts in it and everything you dye your hair it coats another later into our hair, making it nearly impossible to get out. If the color stripped worked for you then that's great and your lucky but for most it ain't going to do shit.

If you want the best red dye you can get it at sally's.I use the loreal hicolor hilights.you don't need to bleach your hair because its specifically made for black hair! I tried going to a salon and they had mine bleached,apart from paying $160,the color faded in just about 3 weeks! So I'd say try the loreal,for 5 bucks it beats the redken ones they use at the salon! I use a 30vol developer and that too was dirt cheap!
