I suggest getting a strengthener, a topical that is meant to taste disgust (I got mine from Walmart) and a clear top coat. Just put the strengthener on first then the topical and then the top coat so it doesn't taste so bad. Trust me I had the same problem until I made a commitment and now my nails are really long. Also make sure you trim them weekly and buff them.
