Don't be sorry Hannah lol contouring can be used only to sculpt certain features but only if needed for personal use but the thing is if you already have cheek bone structure blush will be just as good nothing more nothing less,It's the hype of people wanting to look like a Kardashian because contouring technique has been around for years but it really got popular after K makeup artist made that video.

Well I mean for that matter I truly loathe the Kardashians, but that might be irrelevant at this point. It's just that, to me, if you're going to do something at least take the time and energy to do it properly. So I agree with you, people should take the time to learn proper techniques etc. before they run off and do what they want.

I agree with that I have no clue how to contour my face I know people people do it and I heard it in theatre but there are some things you need to be confident and good at before you perform them...like yeah I have some very rough amateur work on here but I'm also just starting to get my kits and I'm showing you guys ideas more of anything else if you want to look like the k sisters go ahead I think they are really pretty but I just think its too much for me c: just my preference.

I'm not into it either. I mean it can look nice if done right but it's too much work for me to do on a daily basis lol. Because I have acne my main concern is always just concealing whatever mishap is going on that day lol. Ain't nobody got time to contour after all that lol. The closest thing I use that could maybe be considered some type of contouring is blush and that's about it lol. I hardly ever even bother with bronzer either.

Jeni, I understand what you're saying, and I agree that practice is definitely necessary for contouring. And Caitlin, I literally don't wear anything on my face. Maybe under eye concealer. Maybe blush, once every month or something. Face makeup isn't worth it, to me.

Hannah I personally love contouring and do it every day I'm not good yet but ever since jaqueline guided me in the right direction its been much easier I love contouring because with my round face and at fat cheeks my face has no dimension what so ever by contouring it creates the dimension I don't have and makes my face look slim instead of chubby and fat the way it is lol if my face looks slim I some what look slik thats a mega plus just to lose weight cuz of that lol and a black shirt I'm looking good with no exercise needed lol 😂... I do agree that a lot of girls don't do it right but I think its cuz they don't use the right products

Lol Lili, you'll get there :) if it works for you, it works!

I agree with caitlin!

Also, just as an aside here, I'm not a fan of the Kardashians either and I never have once thought any of their makeup looked good. I mean it's usually executed and applied very cleanly but the actual look they have going with the super contouring and black smokey eye just isn't aesthetically pleasing to me at all. But of course that's just a personal opinion :)

Omg yes. I seriously don't get why you would all the time. And it's just me probably, but I don't get why someone would contour that already has good cheekbones and stuff. Like, I have high cheekbones and my facial features are slim, I'm already contoured lol, It's just odd to me why girls would contour on top of an already contoured face lol.

Amen, Caitlin. I also just think they're ridiculous people (have you ever seen their show? How do people not hate them??). And Sarah, some people (myself included) aren't as lucky as you :) but if people are as lucky as you, I do agree, there's such a thing as too much contouring.

@alma I feel so bad whenever I see you and Jacqueline give advice and just don't listen , trust me I used to do all the wrong makeup mistakes but I have taken classes and it just makes you realize how much there is to learn! But trust me anytime you say something I definitely read it ❤️
@hannah yeah I personally don't really like kardashians too! People don't understand their makeup is for photography and that's why it's so much , and I agree about people needing to put more work and time into their makeup. If I'm doing something dramatic I will actually get up early so that I have some more time to make sure everything is right!

Alma I just read your post and it saddens me I'm one of the people you have teach and have learned so much from you I am one of many others who when you post something just click the thread to see what you wrote, there are many of us you have thought don't feel as if nobody's listening cuz I can guarantee you a lot of us are you just don't know it 😊

LOL at Contouring like a Kardashian 😂😂 But you can't generalize and say that very few non-professionals do it properly. Since because you haven't seen every single nonprofessionals contouring job. Maybe the ones you've seen are just shabby. You're going to hate me for this but this is kinda of like that "anything that's not neutral is ugly" post. Not totally (that post was annoying) but similar in a way. It's all a matter of personal preference. There are some girls who don't leave the house with out doing the whole shabang even if it's going to the grocery store. You just happen not to be one of them for whatever reason.

I personally have prominent cheekbones naturally. I highlight under my tinted moisturizer for a more natural effect daily. With foundation only my face can be very flat, and the highlight and blush just adds some life and dimension into it.

Lol Symone, all opinions welcome here. I do apologize for generalizing like that. However, I'm not saying that I don't like it on other people, I'm asking what other people think. Just as a matter of curiosity, because on me, I don't like it. Effort, man.

I enjoy light highlighting but I wish the whole contour trend would end so people would get excited over something else. I dislike most contouring because it looks like the person has a muddy dirty cheek.

Example of mud face

Hannah K.

I think that has mostly to do with the fact that people choose to use bronzer to contour, and it's not the right product.
