Hey guys so I use the l'oreal true march foundation and I've bought three of them and they all seem to make me look orange. Even people at school made fun of me! I wanna go to Mac for the makeup people to find my right skin tone but is it to expensive or no? Or should I keep my foundation and is their anything I can do to not make it orange? Thanks!!

Maybe try a shade lighter? And of Mac works, then it would be worth the extra money, right

Find your basic tone and then match it to your neck.

It's best to do this in natural sunlight.

Look at the inside of your forearms. See the veins there? If they look more blue, you're probably cool undertones. If you see green veins, you're warm. So, blue veins = cool skin, green veins = warm skin. If you can't tell whether they're blue or green your probably neutral.

(This is optional may or may not help. It has been said to be incorrect but I don't know maybe it can help someone) Also if you wear more or look better in silver jewelry your more cool. If you wear more gold then warm. If you look good in both your probably neutral.

There is also the possibility that your foundation is oxidizing, if so you would need to balance your skins ph.

Thanks, but I've tried so many shades lighter it all seems orange and the others are too dark.

That's how my skin was, then I tried true match and it seems to work for me.

I find it much easier to find my shade in drugstore foundations when I know what I am in mac. I'll usually google ____ foundation for nc20 skin. I see what other people with my skin tone get and I don't really have to play the guessing game. If you can just go to mac and ask them to color match you :) As lynzie said its possible that it's oxidizing. Does it look fine when you put it on and throughout the day it starts to look funky? Are you oily?

Try figure out if you have a pink undertone or a yellow one. But getting matched is your best option.

Sometimes its not even the foundation, it could be the powder you use to set. I always go for a translucent powder only use a powder foundation is needed for extra coverage.

Try to indentify if your cool or warm toned, that will help to select your color. MAC has the C/W selection but there are cheaper alternatives, like Revlon.

Hope this helps x

I suggest just going to Mac or sephora so they can match you up that way you don't have to spend so much money buying different drugstore foundations you can just buy one really good higher end one.. It might just be the foundation (loreal true match) but I still recommend going either to sephora

I didn't see if anyone else it, but if the shade starts out as the right color, then looks orange later, it's oxidizing. This is a common problem with a lot of foundations. It can be fixed with a good primer. The primer will keep it on your skin longer and not make it turn orange!
