Yesterday my Hourglass Ambient Light Blush order arrived. I picked up the magenta and poppy shades. These barely registered on my NC45 skintone even after multiple applications. A friend who is NC50 picked up the same shades as well and no success either. These definitely work for anyone at NC43 and below. Open to suggestions of blush colors/brands worthy of me to try. I desire all price points. *I need to soothe my Hourglass disappointment*lol.

I love my NARS blushes!! And MAC I have several palletes of their blushes too. Hourglass failed on this one...fair skinned beauties are saying the shades are far too warm while us dark skinned beauties are sad that they barely show up and only work as highlighters.

Ahhhh I hate to hear that Shelley. they look darker in the pallet. I was sure they'd show up. stinks!!
I'm a cheaply lately. but I am into blush right now. I got hard candy living doll and a couple milani blushes. like hard candy a lot. the center of my face is really light so I seem to look better in shades that may come off like a highlight as blush..
milani is coming out with some matte blushes too. those are going to be nice, should look good on you. I haven't seen any of their new stuff in my stores yet tho. :(

Yeah. they are like solid bold pink but still look baked. I can't wait..

I bought one blush maybe last month. the mauve and I got another the other day.. a bit lighter. the mauve one is for a more dramatic look on me. I wanted something a little lighter.. I'm going to get the rest of the hard candy ones over time. and try the bronzer.the finish is really nice

Wow I'm so sorry Shelley, I know you were looking forward to those. Have you tried the Stila custom color blush in self adjusting pink? Its out of this world bright pink and I love it.I have to have a light hand with it on my fair skin I think it would look great on you.

Oh no! That's too bad Shelley. It's hard to get so excited about a product and be let down. :-(

I love by mac blushers on me.

I will need to check out Milani blushes. I only have two and they are super pigmented.

@Tara...I actually have the Stila on my radar. I remember seeing my husband's assistant wearing it and she is a lil lighter than me and it looked great on her. I might check out the latest blush release from Clinique. I hear the colors are heavy on pigmentation. But the Milani new release has me super curious.

@Regina...girl it was crazy...I was loading up my poor blush brush with product and getting nothing. I was cursing Hourglass left and right. lol.

Lol. I feel for you. That is so frustrating. I have done that and then the complete opposite too. I haven't quite gotten the hang of selecting complimentary shades yet. So sometimes I buy something thinking "ooh that's pretty." Put it on and ask myself what I was thinking. Lol.

@Shelley, do you think from what you heard the blush would be too pigmented for someone with my tone?

Feb 1, 2014

Shelley W.

@Kelly...this blush is crazy. Depending on how fair you are it could either be just right or just way too warm. After seeing them swatched side by side on Temptalia who has a heavy yellow undertone they all look alike on her. I think it would work on you just fine. But I would definitely play with it in person first before taking the plunge to see how it plays on your skin.

Thanks Shelley, I am fair and I have very blue veins on my body, red veins on my eyes, and a rose/red undertone, I think I'll wait till I can try it. It may make me look more flushed then I want.

Oooh! I haven't even heard of these yet. And I just bought a limited edition cheek & eye palette from Ebay (not that I wouldn't have bought it anyway! ). I have a medium, olive Nc30 skintone. Sounds perfect for me. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. But, I agree about Nars & Milani. Esp. Nars Exhibit A. Also, check out BLACK RADIANCE at Riteaid & Walgreens. Amazing pigmentation at affordable prices. Esp. if you want to experiment with an "out of your comfort zone" color and not have it hurt too much if it doesn't work out.
