This Is not a smokey...a smokey eye is when it's darkest at the base and fades up to light so for example a traditional smokey eye the black would be all over the lid and bottom lash like and fade up from there

A smokey eye usually consists of about three colors; a dark shade, a lighter one and an even lighter one... For this example we will use black, deep gray, and then a matte silver... You would apply black from your lashline to up around your crease of higher if you want, and it must be all over you lid... Then you would have the gray almost overlapping it slightly, and going up to wear a dramatic cut crease would be, so essentially about 1/4 of an inch below the highest part of your brow bone. Then the silver on the bottom of your brow bone depending on how you like it... You could then add a soft white highlight under your brows... The key to a perfect smoky eye however is to make sure the blending is impeccable... It needs to transition from one color to the next in a smooth gradient effect, making it nearly impossible to tell where you stopped applying a certain color. So just blend blend blend and make sure it gets lighter the farther up you go... Here is an example...

In fairness to her most youtubers do call this eyeshadow a smokey eye. Does anyone know what its technically called? I've just been calling it a silver lid with a brown crease?
