If anyone has used the Loreal Excellence HiColour in "Red", does it fade to an orange or brassy colour? I have naturally dark brown - black hair, but currently it's dark maroon colour. Thanks for the help!

I've used it. Unfortunately, it does fade to this weird orange, brassy looking color. :/ It takes a while for it to fade though I find, but I used a red shampoo and conditioner and always washed and rinsed with cold water. (:

How many washes before you've noticed the brassiness? And how bright did your hair turn out?

Well, I the key is to not wash your hair so often number 1 because red dye bleeds out a lot. I would say I went maybe like 5-6 weeks before I noticed a change? I dyed my hair red during winter break and over spring break (this was last year) is when I changed the color of my hair because the red had faded out completely. My hair turned out pretty bright. I left it in for about 35 minutes and the color was very vibrant. The vibrancy of your hair will also depend on the developer you use. The higher volume the developer the brighter your hair will be.

What volume developer did you use?

I used 30 volume developer. It came really bright, like it was significantly noticeable haha. I'm sure using 20 volume developer would work well, however because your hair is already dyed I would stick with 30. 40-50 would be too harsh in my opinion and even though the color might come out as vibrant as the sun, your hair will get super damaged, so I'd choose 30.

Thanks so much, you're a lifesaver!
