Salon... Even though it may be more expensive they can do it properly without damaging your hair as much...

Definitely Salon. Every person I know and have seen that dyed their hair at home had parts of their hair that they missed. You could see patches of their past hair color. Also like @K R said, they know how not to damage your hair as much :)

I did my red at home. came out nice.

Well at least for me, I've only ever have dyed it at home. It works just fine for me. I just started dyeing it myself without my mom's help and haven't missed pieces yet. I'll have my sister come check the back and make sure I got it all. If I'm doing something other than a box bye then I do major research on it. like yesterday I dyed my hair using L'Or?al hicolor hilights and I waited like 2 months before doing it cuz I wanted to make sure it wasn't damaging and was what I wanted. A salon can do as much damage as at home if screwed up (in both cases), my mom knows this haha. If you know what you're doing then it's totally fine to do it at home. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself but don't want to go to a salon, ask a friend who Is really good and comfortable with it haha

But really, unless you botch it, a home dye job isn't anymore damaging than at a salon.

Salon! They're trained professionals so the know what they are doing. Unless you trust yourself or someone you know to do it!

Salon- because box die is horrible, even though there is some good ones out there they damage your hair so much more (because the chemicals and the lack of prepping your hair before you die, your suppose to use a special protecter that helps your hair be healthier and have the color last longer) and fade quickly. When ever. I get my hair died, its "at home" but my aunt works at a salon and just brings her stuff home to its salon products just done at home (maybe once a year, usually a little more) it doesn't fade it grows out before it comes out, but I notice with my friends who use box die there hair is damaged and they are constantly rediying there hair because its fading. So even if its not your first time dying ALWAYS go to a salon.

If its a subtle color change then at home is fine but if its a drastic change a salon is best.

I agree go to the salon I would dye my hair with box dye never gave me the color I wanted and it broke a piece of my hair off so it damaged it but I deep conditioned over the summer and its healthy and it grew back so go to salon don't use box dye it ruins your hair hope I was helpful.
