Does anyone know of any makeup brands that are cruelty free I.e. don't test on animals? I've been trying to be more aware of what animals go through, and I JUST saw on the news that some of these makeup companies have chemicals in them which could be making us sick. Anyone? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I know I can Google this, but I would rather someone who has tried and tested a brand, and knows it works! :) Thanks in advance!

@Naomi...a makeup artist who used to do my makeup for my figure competitions had the entire collection in her kit. The lipsticks are very pigmented. I just wish they would figure out their production output as they are always selling out. The purple shades are to die for!!

Consumers not Brand Manufacturers and Cosmetics Companies decide whether animal testing and cruelty become obsolete or the rule for the beauty and cosmetics industry. This is nothing new, animal testing and extreme cruelty in the name of "science" which is a loose and dangerous term for two words...Lazy, Greedy.
Think about it if you are aware of a portion of what goes on in the name of "science" by some of the most respected and well known household product companies, and you don't feel a small responsibility to make some sort of stand or better a change then all you have to do is not buy those brands. Maybe raise awareness since 1 in 2 customers are unaware the brands they have known and trusted for years are some of the biggest and blatant offenders when it comes to animal testing, rights and cruelty. Companies like Gilette, Colgate, SC Jonson, Revlon, Make Up For Ever, Bare Minerals, Benefit, MAC ect...Now sephora is moving into china who requires all makeup be tested in sick ways on animals. I hope that former customers stop shopping there and that cruelty free brands like Tarte and Josie Maran withdraw their products as well. As customers we vote every time we purchase and by not purchasing from companies who are affiliated with animal testing we are voting for a change, I am addicted to sephora, have two rouge accounts but I will live without their store. Don't want blood on my hands. May I point out the irony of opening in china being as that is where all the big brands are knocked off! Their economy doesn't need us and we are only condoning the bad behavior by entering that market where animals are treated like trash.

Since Britt brought up cosmetic giants and animal testing...change doesn't happen overnight. Proctor and Gamble developed a non-animal alternative for skin allergy testing. Its called Direct Peptide Reactivity Assay. The news was released this morning via Cosmetics Design....its an industry website for people in the biz. I don't want to bore everyone with science behind it but according to my husband who works in the area of product development from the chemistry side this has been in the works for a long time. All the research and testing coming out of Europe. The cool thing is that P&G plans getting this test used on a global scale to replace animal testing. And there are currently organizations in China who are fighting for alternative methods so this bit of news is major. Especially considering this new method is cheaper than traditional animal testing. So with that being said...major change is on the horizon.
