I don't think you should set your liquid foundation with another foundation because BareMinerals makes a great mineral veil! Makes your skin glow (not sparkly)! If you are going to buy any bareMineral products I really recommend buying a brush from their company. Their brushes are cut specifically to pick up their product and let me tell you first hand it makes a huge difference! Their blushes are amazing also!

Okay, MAC studio fix powder is a foundation, not a setting powder, so I see why it would make you look cakey. Try the MAC mineralize skinfinish natural for setting. It's very sheer and gives you a satin finish. If you want full coverage, just choose a full coverage liquid foundation, like studio fix fluid.

I would go with BareMinerals. They do have several options depending if you are oily, combo, etc. I use a liquid foundation with their Matte which is oil absorbing. Their Mineral Veil is also great and they have an illuminating Mineral Veil to and some other choices.
