I usually only get small pimples before my period. But all of a sudden I have gotten huge zits and they wont go away. I know its bad to "pop" them but they began to hurt so I had to. I let them heal and they started going away. Then they all came back in the same spots. I used spot treatment to try and heal them and dry them up but nothing is helping. What is going on?? I have never broken out like this before!

Try changing your pillow case every couple of days. Or clean your makeup brushes. The on a clear day line by philosophy is amazing. I suggest the cleanser and the spot treatment. It has mostly salicylic acid and some retinol. Its microbial and anti-aging!

Ugh I had the same problem from July until about 3 weeks ago and during that time I tried so many different acne cleansers/toners/treatments etc. and nothing worked! I even started changing my pillowcase every other day and wiping my phone every day with alcohol but still no change. I'm 21 and I'm pretty sure my acne is hormone related, which makes it less receptive to treatment. Anyway, I quit exfoliating and using my clarisonic and started a prescription acne medicine..the medicine combined with no more exfoliating really dried out all my problem areas and now my skin is finally getting back to normal. I still have some dark spots left over but nothing a little concealer can't fix! My morning and night routine is Philosophy's Purity cleanser followed by my acne medicine and then after letting it sink in for awhile I apply either CeraVe moisturizer or Philosophy's Hope in a Jar mixed with a few drops of Maracuja oil to make up for the dryness caused by the acne medicine. I hope this helps a little!

Have you made any changes to your diet lately? Are you under stress? That sort of thing can throw your hormones out of whack and give you larger zits than you're used to. Another thing to think about is that as the seasons change, your skin may change (can get drier or oilier), so you may need to adjust your skincare routine to compensate.

Nichelle V is right about your pillow case. Also, try skipping your face wash for a week and use only soap and water. Lotion before face make up. You should be good.

First of all acne has nothing to do with having "dirty" skin so don't cleanse your face too much or you could irritate it more and cause more breakouts. Acne is caused by an overproduction of oil which blocks the pores. Bacteria feeds on the oil and skin that blocks the pores and cause pimples. Start by using a very gentle soap free, perfume free cleanser, such as Simple foaming cleanser. You should only wash you face twice a day and make sure you remove any make up. After you cleanse use a gentle moisturiser such as the Simple one. That's it. You can use spot treatments to dry the spots out but I don't think they will prevent further breakouts. Go to a doctor and see what they say. They may prescribe you antibiotics or a topical to help. And of course the most important thing is that no matter how hard it is, DO NOT pick or squeeze them!

I forgot to mention that acne can happen at any time even if you have ever been affected by it before!

I had been breaking out extremely terrible for the last 4 months (maybe a bit more) and I still don't know what was causing it. I am young so I assume that it was my face's time since I've never broke out but I've started using dermalmd blemish serum over night and it has healed amazingly in just 10 days. Besides that, I do remove my makeup with coconut oil & I wash it with a Neutrogena facial cleanser, using my facial cleanser brush! & then I just wash my face off with water in the mornings. & that apparently has been working!
